In short: Chart calculations run in your browser, and your name, birth date, birth time and birthplace are never sent to us — for a free chart or a paid report. Unlocking a paid report does send a derived chart profile (element counts, your Day Master's element, your hexagram number) plus your order reference to check the purchase; section 2 sets out exactly what that does and does not reveal. We use Google AdSense for advertising and Google Analytics 4 for anonymous traffic statistics. If you buy a report, your payment is handled by a third-party payment provider and we never see your card details.
1. Information We Do Not Collect
The Bagua birth chart calculator is a fully client-side application, and the paid report keeps it that way: the chart is drawn in your browser either way.
- Your name, birth date, birth time, birthplace, and gender are entered directly into your browser and processed locally on your device.
- This information is never transmitted to us, and we hold no database of user birth details.
- We do not require account registration, login, or email submission to use the free tool.
2. Information We Do Process
The paid Baguachart Reading Report is written on our server, so unlocking it does require your browser to send us something. It is not your birth details. When you open your report and the order checks out, your browser sends exactly two things:
- A chart profile. Five whole numbers counting the Five Elements across the eight characters of your chart, the element of your Day Master, your hexagram's two trigram numbers, and its moving line. This is what selects which pages of the written interpretation you are entitled to read.
- Your payment reference together with the email address the payment was made with. Together these prove the purchase is yours, and with them we can see the payment record — the same record the payment provider keeps, as described in section 3.
What is not sent, for a paid report or a free one: your name, your birth date, your birth time, or your birthplace. You type those into your browser, your browser uses them there to draw the chart, and they are not transmitted to us. We do not operate a database of user birth details, so there are none for us to lose.
How identifying is the chart profile? We would rather state this plainly than let you assume it is nothing. It is a derived summary of a chart, not a name, and it carries no date, time or place — the same profile is reached from many different birth moments, and it cannot be read back as a date of birth. It is not anonymous in the strict sense either: hold the month, day and clock time fixed and the profile does track the year, so someone who already held almost all of your birth details could check a guess against it. That is a far weaker position than recovering anything, but it is not zero, and we describe it here rather than in a footnote.
We keep the minimum needed to honour our refund policy and to meet accounting obligations. See section 10 for how to ask about your data.
3. Payments and Purchases
Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVV, or banking credentials — those are entered on the provider's own secure checkout page and are governed by that provider's privacy policy and terms.
We receive only the limited information needed to fulfil your order and handle support: typically a transaction reference, the email address you supplied at checkout, the amount, and the status of the payment. If you contact us about a purchase, we will use that information to help you.
The paid report is a digital product. Nothing is shipped, and no delivery address is collected or required.
4. Local Storage
If you use the "share report" feature, a compressed report link is generated entirely in your browser. The birth details it carries are placed after the # in the address, in the part of a URL that browsers never send to any server — so that link reaches you and nobody else, and it does not appear in our access logs or in the referrer of the next page you visit. Nothing is stored on our servers.
If you buy a report, your browser remembers the payment reference and the email address the payment was made with, on your own device only. This is what lets you reopen your report later — from your history, a bookmark, or simply coming back to the page — instead of having to find the original link again. It is written only after our server has confirmed the payment; it is never sent anywhere except back to us, to unlock that report; and it is removed as soon as the server reports the payment is no longer valid. Clearing your browser's site data deletes it immediately.
Your language preference (English or Chinese) may be remembered locally in your browser so the site opens in the language you last used.
5. Cookies
BaguaChart.com itself does not set cookies for tracking purposes. However, the third-party services described in sections 6 and 7 — Google AdSense and Google Analytics 4 — do use cookies and similar technologies when you visit the site.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense) are used to serve ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) are used to measure aggregate traffic — for example page views, approximate region, device type, and referral source.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking them does not prevent you from using the free chart tool.
6. Third-Party Advertising
This website displays advertising served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's previous visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You may also opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
- If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, a consent message is shown before advertising cookies are set, in line with Google's EU user consent policy.
Affiliate links are separate from advertising. Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, the retailer may pay us a commission, and their tracking may set a cookie or use a referral parameter to attribute the sale. This never changes the price you pay and never buys a recommendation. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the full explanation.
7. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and which content is useful. This information is statistical and is not used to identify you personally. Google's handling of this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of analytics tracking with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
8. Children's Privacy
Our service is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Purchases are intended for users aged 18 or over, or those with the consent of a parent or guardian.
9. Data Security
Your birth details never leave your device, so there is nothing of that kind in transit for anyone to intercept. What we do hold — an order reference and the email you paid with — is protected by our payment provider's secure infrastructure and by our own access controls, and the unlock call that delivers your report is made over HTTPS and never carries a credential in a URL. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, and to object to certain uses. Because we hold very little — and no birth details at all — these requests are usually simple to honour.
To make a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable period, and within any shorter period required by applicable law.
Because the birth details you enter are processed entirely in your browser, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf from a chart — simply closing the browser tab clears it. What we can access is the order record described in section 3, and we will retrieve or delete that on request.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
12. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or about a purchase, you may reach us at [email protected] or through our Contact page. See also our Terms of Service, which include our refund policy, and our Affiliate Disclosure.
